The 1766-L32BXB is a part of the MicroLogix 1400 Programmable Logic Controller series. It features EtherNet/IP, online editing capabilities, and a built-in LCD. The LCD features a backlight for setting network configuration and viewing the controller and I/O status. The 1766-L32BXB controller requires 24 Volts DC input power and has battery-backed RAM. It supports 32 digital I/O points which are Twelve (12) digital fast 24 Volts DC inputs, Eight (8) digital 24 Volts DC inputs, Six (6) relay outputs, Three (3) fast 24 Volts DC outputs, and Three (3) normal 24 Volts DC outputs. It has a dimension of 3.5 x 7.08 x 3.43 inches and a weight of 2 pounds.

For communication, it has an isolated RS-232/485 port, an Ethernet port, and a non-isolated RS-232 port. It also has an embedded real-time clock to provide a reference for applications that need time-based control. For installation, it has Panel or DIN-Rail mounting options and an open enclosure. It is suitable for use in clean, dry, industrial environments with circuits that do not exceed Over Voltage Category II. The 1766-L32BXB controller has various enhanced features like an Ethernet port with DNP3 protocol support and email capabilities. It also has 2 Serial ports with DH485/DF1/Modbus RTU/DNP3/ASCII protocol support, up to 6 embedded 100 kHz high-speed counters (on DC controllers), and a 20 KB memory for user data.

The 1766-L32BXB is MicroLogix 1400 controller features a comprehensive Discrete Input and Output channels such as Twelve (12) Fast 24VDC, Eight (8) Normal 24VDC, Six (6) Relay, Three (3) Fast DC and Three (3) Normal DC outputs. This Discrete I/O variety enables the 1766-L32BXB to be used in application with mixed input voltage and mixed electrical loads. It also allows this controller to be used in applications with counting, totalizing and simple motion controls. Additionally, this controller may also provide the high-speed signals through the embedded high-speed output channels.

The 1766-L32BXB is also provided with a 10KB user program memory and another 10KB for user data. It supports recipe and log data. It is also embedded with a real-time clock for use in applications that require time-based or calendar-based actuations such as control of equipment sets and automatic mode change. Typical processes that use this type of logic are Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) applications, Building Management Systems (BMS), Facilities Management Systems (FMS) and Water and Waster Treatment Processes.

This controller also has an internal battery back-up for memory retention of the Random Access Memory (RAM) and a back-up memory module for a non-volatile memory area. The high-speed input channels support up to Six (6) channels with100 kHz frequency. This controller also supports Pulse Train Output (PTO) with frequency of 100 kHz and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) with frequency of 40 kHz.
