1734-OB4 is a POINT I/O Discrete Output Module. This discrete output module featres Four (4) non-isolated sourcing output channels, typically used for actuating Final Control Elements (FCE) such as ON/OFF valves, relays and other actuators. It may also be used to energize indicating devices such as Pilot Lamps, annunciator panels and other similar discrete devices. Discrete output modules such as the 1734-OB4 may are used to implement manual or automatic control by linking the output channels to the appropriate data map, which is triggered according to the designed logic. The 1734-OB4 uses an 8-bit register to map and transfer the result of the logic execution. Within the 8-bit register, only bit 0, 1, 2, and 3 are used, assigned for output channels 0, 1,2, and 3. The 1734-OB4 output channels are supplied by an external DC power supply with range of 10-28.8VDC with a nominal voltage of 24VDC. Each output channel is capable of providing continuous current of 1.0 A per output, not to exceed 3.0 A max per module. The 1734-OB4 electronic circuitry is powered via the POINTBus backplane connection, established via the mounting base. The required POINTBus current of the 1734-OB4 discrete output module is 75 mA at 5VDC with a power dissipation of 1.2W and Thermal dissipation of 4.1 BTU/hr. The 1734-OB4 cannot be directly installed to any Allen-Bradley controller. It must reside within the POINT I/O rack along a 1734 Communication adapter. The 1734-OB4 module is installed to a mounting base along a removable terminal block. The mounting base provides the DIN rail attachments as well the output moduleÕs interface to the POINTBus backplane. The removable terminal block (RTB) is used to provide termination points of external power supply and field wirings. Compatible mounting and wiring accessories are 1734-TB or 1734-TBS wiring base assembly. To maximize the rated lifespan of the module, operate the 1734-OB4 within an environment with temperature fluctuation not lower than -20 and higher than +55 ¡C (-4...+131 ¡F) along a maximum surrounding air temperature of 55 ¡C (131 ¡F). Install appropriate temperature or climate control device to control the inside temperature of an enclosure with consideration to the moduleÕs thermal dissipation. Prior to powering up the module. Remove protective paper strips to allow natural air flow for moduleÕs cooling.
